The Division of Davao City’s campus journalism delegation asserted its dominance in the regional arena, capturing the majority of championship titles in the group categories during the recently concluded 2026 Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) held in Mati City and Davao City on January 26-30, 2026.

Showcasing exceptional technical skill and editorial prowess, Davao City’s campus journalists secured First Place finishes in nearly all major group competitions. The division’s gold medal haul included victories in Radio Scriptwriting and Broadcasting for both Elementary and Secondary English, as well as a dual sweep of TV Scriptwriting and Broadcasting in both Secondary English and Filipino. The team further solidified its lead by winning the top spots in Collaborative and Desktop Publishing (Secondary English) and Online Publishing (Secondary English).

In addition to the championship titles, the delegation earned Second Place honors in Online Publishing (Secondary Filipino) and Radio Scriptwriting and Broadcasting (Secondary Filipino). These consistent high-level performances across various platforms contributed to the division being recognized as the First Runner-Up in the overall top performing division rankings for this year’s conference.

“To our student journalists and coaches congratulations! You fought hard with integrity, passion, and unwavering commitment to truth and excellence. You carried the Davao City banner with honor and dignity. While we may rest on our laurels this year, we do so deeply honored by what we have achieved—with integrity, dignity and pride,” Schools Division Superintendent Reynante A. Solitario said as he lauded the grit and professionalism shown by the participants throughout the intensive competition days.

The superintendent also emphasized that the victory was a result of a massive collaborative effort between the local government and the community. “We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the City Government of Davao for the amazing and steadfast support, to our proud parents, and to the entire school communities who stood solidly behind our learners every step of the way,” he added.

The winners from these group events and the champions of the individual events are now expected to represent the Davao Region in the upcoming National Schools Press Conference (NSPC) in Ormoc City this April, where they will compete against the best campus journalists from across the country.
