January 12, 2024 – DepEd Davao City proudly launched the Learning Camp Fridays’ program today at T. Palma Gil Elementary School, marking a momentous stride in bridging the knowledge gap and fostering academic success among the learners under its supervision.

Themed “Learning Camps Friday: Bridging the Knowledge Gap, Nurturing Academic Success for DepEd Davao City,” the launch signifies a renewed commitment to providing quality education and support to the learners in Davao City, aligned with the National Reading Program.

The symbolic unveiling of the Learning Camp Fridays’ banner, official turning over of the Basa Pilipinas resources to T. Palma Gil Elementary School, and the commitment signing were the momentous highlights of the program, with the visionary leader, SDS Reynante A. Solitario, CESO V.

During his speech, SDS Solitario emphasized that the Learning Camp Fridays is a “call to action, a reminder that we must amplify our efforts in empowering our learners with the essential skills required for success in the modern world.”

Commencing with a warm welcome from Ms. Faye Genevieve P. Pasamonte, Education Program Supervisor in Science, the event proceeded with a comprehensive presentation of the program’s guidelines by Dr. Alma C. Cifra, CID Chief Education Supervisor, outlining the structure and objectives of the Learning Camp Fridays.

Graced by the presence of the Asst. Schools Division Superintendent, Marilyn V. Deduyo, CESO VI, as well as the Education Program Supervisors and Public Schools District Supervisors, the event was expertly hosted by Dr. May Ann M. Jumuad, Education Program Supervisor in English, whose adept facilitation ensured the seamless flow of the program.

The activity approached its conclusion with some final thoughts, reflections, and words of gratitude from the Division Reading & ELLN Coordinator, PSDS Narmela P. Espedido.

Learning Camp Fridays is poised to become a cornerstone of educational enrichment in Davao City, providing learners with additional opportunities to engage with their studies, receive academic support, and foster a deeper love for reading. By dedicating specific Fridays to this purpose, the program aims to bolster academic achievement and empower learners to reach their full potential.

As DepEd Davao City sets off on this new educational endeavor, the community eagerly anticipates the positive impact it will have on learners and educators alike. Through collaborative efforts and a determined commitment to quality education, the Learning Camp Fridays program is set to play a pivotal role in shaping the academic landscape of Davao City for years to come.
