
With a remarkable display of mathematical wit and prowess, Bangoy District emerged as the overall champion in this year’s Division Festival of Talents in Mathematics, held at Davao City Special School, November 27, 2025.
Garnering a total of 15 awards, Bangoy District triumphed over strong contenders in the math events such as Battle of the Brains, Sudoku, Rubik’s Cube, and DaMath, which proved the mathematical competence of the learners and teachers.
In the Battle of the Brains, Grade 1 learner Enzo Bev R. Clapero of F. Bangoy Central Elementary School SPED Center got the 1st place; Grade 2 learners Hiziri J. Nishiwaki of V. Hizon Sr. Elementary School (VHSES) and Martin Lucas B. Isais of J. Cruz Sr. Elementary School (JCSES) got the 2nd and 3rd place, respectively; Grade 5 learners Emferson D. Mozo of V. L. Angliongto Sr. Elementary School and John Avelino B. Montecillo of VHSES got 2nd and 5th place; and, Grade 6 learners Wrenjy Onin of VHSES and Grey Marvin O. Lampios of JCSES got 3rd and 5th place.
Meanwhile, for Sudoku, Grade 4 learner Liam Pauli S. Saludares of Doña Asuncion Hizon Elementary School (DAHES) got the 2nd place while Grade 6 learner Kara Elyannah Marohombcar of VHSES got the 1st place.
For Rubik’s Cube, VHSES learners Zariyah Faith C. Oliverio got the 3rd place for the Grades 1-2 category and Sophia Vilvestra got the 4th place for the Grades 3-4 category. Teacher Jenny E. Palanca, also from VHSES, got the 2nd place in playing the Rubik’s Cube for the Teacher Category.
Lastly, for DaMath, Jahzara Charis T. Sildo of DAHES got 1st place in Counting DaMath for Grades 1-2 category; Allexel Heruela of JCSES got 5th place in Whole DaMath for Grades 3-4 category; and John Bryan Cabasag of VHSES got 1st place in Fraction DaMath for Grades 5-6 category.
“This is a big reason to celebrate! Indeed, the Bangoy District Mathematics team has strategized well by working on the readiness of the school children, which is aimed to excel in higher competition. Congratulations, Team Bangoy!” expressed Bangoy Public Schools District Supervisor (PSDS) Maria Doreen A. Daplin.
This outstanding achievement is a testament of the district’s strong support system anchored by the leadership of PSDS Daplin, the encouragement of the school heads led by the Math Coordinating Principal Troy S. Mangopot, the steadfast guidance of the coaches under the facilitation of District Math Coordinator Joy C. Jimenez, the unwavering support of parents, and the learners’ dedication and hardwork — highlighting the district’s unwavering pursuit of academic excellence, especially in the field of Mathematics.
