After a three-year hiatus from conducting sports events, the Division of Davao City made a major comeback in the sports arena as it formally opened the Davao City Athletic Association (DCAA) meet on February 5, 2023 at Davao City National High School grounds.

Michael Denton P. Aportadera, Chief of Davao City Sports Development Division graced the event on behalf of City Mayor Sebastian R. Duterte, welcomed and thanked the delegates, organizers, teachers, families and friends who have contributed to the undertaking of this event.

“DCAA remains momentous for our young Dabawenyo athletes as it provides them with the limelight to showcase their respective talents and competitiveness in various sporting events,” mentioned in the Mayor’s message bringing high hopes for positive results for everyone and contribution to the growing sports community of the city.

He also inspired the delegates saying that the DCAA meet can be an avenue to win new friends and bring significant development to the young athletes’ capabilities.

Anchored on the theme “Building Camaraderie and Unity Through Sports,” the DCAA meet assembled more than 4000 athletes, coaches and officiating officials from the eight units in the biggest sports events in Davao City.

Based on the recommended schedule of activities stipulated in DepEd Order No. 5, s. 2023, the Regional meet shall take place at the end of April.
